Steve Marshall was employed at different occupations for many years but wanted to do more than “make a living.” Steve had heard of Mendocino Works, and decided to pay them a visit, with the intention of upgrading his skills.

He found that every employment related need of his was met every time he walked through the door. When asked to describe the assistance he received, he said “Excellent, perfect! Everyone was so helpful, even when I asked ‘dumb’ questions, they were always answered.”

Steve began making discoveries about his abilities and interests through the various assessment and case management services Mendocino Works offers. Together they hit on an ideal occupational goal for Steve: heavy truck driving. The results of his assessments confirmed that he was a good match for the field. Steve researched these schools and decided on a school that fit his needs. MPIC provided Steve with the support he needed to afford school.
Even before Steve graduated on July 8th, he landed a job with Werner Enterprises. Steve credits MPIC with sending him to a school that practically guaranteed a successful outcome: “You guys sent me to the best school I could have gone to—hands down! I would have never landed a job with Werner otherwise.” Of course, it didn’t hurt that Steve completed his training with a 98% rating, at the top of his class.

Armed with his Class A license, which means he can pretty much drive any truck anywhere, Steve is now making very good money. He is very happy that he walked through the door of Mendocino Works.
